What a bland and boring title! But the activity is one that will help all students with the essay that will be required at the end of Romeo & Juliet. We took the purple handout, titled "Romeo & Juliet Act Summary: A Model," and we worked on summarizing Act One. The first part of the worksheet requires students on a separate sheet of paper to write down briefly what they know about each character. An example is below:
Romeo - between 17 & 19 years old; a Montague; loves Juliet.
The second part, on the same separate sheet of paper, is to write a separate sentence for each scene that tells what happened in the scene. There is an example on the handout for the first two scenes.
The third section is to choose at least three quotations and choose which theme they relate to. Look at the opinionaire for examples of the themes in Romeo & Juliet.
