From there we finished the book. The last three vignettes and questions are as follows:
- "Alicia and I Talking on Edna's Steps": Who is going to make Mango Street better? (1 piece of figurative language),
- "A House of My Own": Cisneros uses a metaphor of "clean as paper before the poem" (108). What does this metaphor mean? Explain it. (No figurative language),
- "Mango Says Goodbye Sometimes": Is this book positive, or negative? Why? (No figurative language).
We then ended class by my handing out the project requrements for this book. Students are to take this home and read it. Any questions they may have should be written on the handout and brought to class on Monday so that we may start addressing questions and get onto the project.
Homework: See above paragraph. See "handouts" for the project outline and rubric.
