Today's sentence-on-steroids was "The dog went outside."

We read through "A Rice Sandwich" and discussed how this vignette gives up clues as to Esperanza's family situation and the problems that she experienced trying to fit in. This vignette did not have dialectical journal write-up. We then had the first of our "Take-a-Turn Teaching" groups who taught the vignette "Chanclas." The basic question that both classes brought up involved why the shoes were so important to Esperanza and what the shoes symbolized. We started to read "Hips," but, once again, time was the enemy.

Homework: Not tonight!

Just a note as a heads up: I will collecting warm-ups and dialectical journals next week. Catch up if you're missing work! All the slides are on Mr. Staiano's webpage.
